Australian researchers and entrepreneurs are constantly under pressure in their pursuit to secure funds to continue their research programs or grow their start-ups. The global funding landscape is constantly changing within government and private sectors. It is important to be aware of alternative funding sources and changes to funding to increase one’s chance of successfully securing funding. One such source of funding for Australian researchers and entrepreneurs is non-dilutive funding grants from the US Government. Over the past few years, attractive US Government funding opportunities have been available for eligible life sciences researchers and companies from outside the United States seeking to further undertake research and development.
Non-US applicants are eligible for the majority of the non-dilutive pockets of money available from US federal agencies. This includes (but is not limited to) the National Institutes of Health (NIH), Department of Defense (DoD), and the Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority (BARDA). Currently, the NIH are actively funding over 1,000 projects outside the US or awarded to non-US applicants in excess of $1.3B. In Australia alone, between the years 2018 through 2020, 81 projects were funded by 13 different centers in the NIH, with funding awards totalling over 58.8 M USD.
In this presentation, Mr. Jonathan Adalist of the FreeMind Group, will provide insight into the US federal non-dilutive funding landscape open to foreign entities. He will present different funding opportunities, with an emphasis on the NIH, DoD, and other government agencies.
This webinar would suit researchers, entrepreneurs or start-ups in the life sciences industry looking at alternative funding opportunities.
