saving lives Spit test
At QUT, simple saliva tests are being
developed to detect oral and throat cancers.
Researcher, Associate Professor Chamindie Punyadeera, is developing
the effortless tests that will make early detection of cancer possible,
enabling treatment to start much sooner. Currently detection often
occurs when noticeable symptoms appear but by then cancer is
advanced and prognosis often unfavourable. A simple mouth rinse or
swab could be the information game changer that saves lives.
