The industry is a fundamental part of the country's identity, and a key contributor to the national economy, particularly exports.The industry is resilient and innovative, bolstered by a workforce consisting of approximately 161,478 businesses with a strong understanding for the land and the markets it serves. The country is well placed to address local economic and social issues, as well as global issues such as food security; while experiencing a growing demand for agricultural outputs, and with investment interest in the underlying assets that facilitate production and processing.Some of the main agribusinesses include meat processors, grain wholesalers and agricultural machinery sellers as well as the business of farming cotton, cattle, sheep and sugarcane. Figures 10 and 11 show the key markets and products that make up this sector in Australia.
