Ipswich and the Western Corridor

Ipswich is located in the south-east Queensland corridor approximately 40 kilometres west of Brisbane’s CBD.

“West of Ipswich lies the rural and farming areas of the Brisbane, Lockyer and Fassifern Valleys”. Ipswich’s close proximity to these agriculturally rich areas and the city’s own “considerable areas of high quality agricultural land” enables the region to maximise “the beneficial use of this land to create economic development and employment in rural communities, support the maintenance of local ecosystems and land, and support tourism growth in Ipswich City”.

A modern and progressive city, Ipswich is Queensland’s oldest provincial city and a major commercial and industrial centre “renowned for its architectural, natural and cultural heritage”.

According to the Queensland Government Business and Industry Portal, Ipswich is predicted to grow “faster than the rest of South East Queensland” and the projected economic worth of the city in 2026 is AU$12.7 billion.
